The Power of Prayer
(Based on Daniel 6)

Daniel and the Lions’ Den

A long time ago, in a land called Babylon, there lived a man named Daniel.

Daniel loved God with all his heart. Every single day, Daniel opened his window, knelt down, and prayed to God three times. He didn’t hide it. He wasn’t ashamed. He talked to God because God was his closest friend.

But some men did not like Daniel. They knew he prayed every day, so they made a tricky plan.
They told the king to make a new rule:

“No one is allowed to pray to anyone except the king!”

The king agreed, not knowing it would hurt Daniel.

When Daniel heard the new rule, he had a choice.
Should he stop praying so he would be safe?
Or should he keep praying because he loved God?

Daniel chose God.

He went to his room, knelt down just like he always did, and prayed.

The men caught him and told the king.
The king was very sad, but the rule could not be changed.
So Daniel was put into a den filled with lions.

That night, the lions walked around him…
heavy paws… big teeth… loud breathing…

But Daniel wasn’t alone.

God sent an angel to close the lions’ mouths.
They could not bite. They could not roar.
They were calm, like sleepy kittens lying beside him.

In the morning, the king ran to the den.

“Daniel! Did your God save you?”

Daniel answered, “Yes! My God sent an angel to protect me.”

The king was amazed.
Daniel’s God had listened to Daniel’s prayers and kept him safe.

And everyone in the kingdom learned an important truth:
God hears us when we pray — even in the darkest places.

“God, thank You that You hear us every time we pray.
Make us brave like Daniel, trusting You no matter what.
Help us talk to You every day. Amen.”
